The Dubai Executive Council (DEC) is deploying Network Equipment Technologies (NET) VX Series fully-integrated multi-service voice switch to enable it to migrate to unified communications.

The VX Series operates in front of the DEC’s existing PBX, allowing the DEC to introduce new software-based voice solutions. The set up has been designed to support a deployment of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, and to provide high-availability and high-capacity services.

DEC is responsible for the formulation and implementation of federal regulations and local laws; preparation of annual budgets along with development plans; and coordination between various local departments. As the organization expands, it wanted to be able to add new capabilities and communications capacity and also to support remote users for additional business continuity.

Testing and implementation was carried out in conjunction with partner IDC.

Nick Keating, CEO of NET commented: “The Middle East and Northern Africa has been a market that has shown significant interest in unified communications and VoIP-based applications. The success of the Dubai Executive Council testing and deployment is indicative of the opportunity we see in this region and our local presence enables us to better address the needs of current customers and partners in the region as well as better support new opportunities. Continuing to work with integrators and distributors such as IDC enables us to provide greater personal attention and support.”
