Barcelona has confirmed it has received a 'monster offer' from Abu Dhabi-owned Premiership football club Manchester City for striker Samuel Eto'o, Britain’s Sun newspaper reported early Sunday.
Commenting on the offer, Barca president Joan Laporta said the club will cash in on the Cameroon ace if he expresses a desire to move to Eastlands.
Laporta said: "Eto'o has a stratospheric offer from City, which would convert him into the best paid player in the world.
"It's starting to become clear that he has this monster offer.
"He wants to stay but an offer like this is very difficult to refuse."
Eto'o, 28, netted 36 goals last season as Barca won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
Britain’s News of The World meanwhile claimed on Sunday that City have already snared the Cameroon striker in GBP25 million deal.
Eto'o, is expected to travel to Manchester in the next few days to finalise the deal, according to the newspaper.
Eto'o, who initially demanded GBP200,000 a week after tax, will put pen to paper on a five-year deal worth GBP180k a week after tax, with further bonuses tied to success, the newspaper added.
A source said: "The player could have earned similar money at Barca. But Eto'o and his people think City could be going places and is excited by the type of players they are attracting."
The newspaper also said that City will take its summer spending past the GBP90 million mark by confirming later this week it has landed GBP30 million rated Carlos Tevez from Manchester United.
Argentine international Tevez will sign a four-year deal worth around GBP140,000 a week on Wednesday, the newspaper claimed.

Man City may score goals but without defensive players they will still lose quite a bit.
