Qatar swine flu cases rise to 17

Qatar's Supreme Council of Health has confirmed five new cases of swine flu in Qatar, taking the total number of cases to 17.

They include a 46-year old Qatari national who returned to the Gulf state from London recently, a two-year-old Filipina, who came from Philippines and a 28-year-old Japanese woman who came from the US.

The other two victims are a 31-year-old Thai woman who also came from the US and a 27-year-old Filipina who came from the Philippines, Gulf Times reported on Tuesday.

All five patients have been quarantined and are undergoing treatment at the Hamad Medical City, according to a statement issued by the council.

The families of the victims as well as those who came in contact with them are being provided with the anti-viral as a precautionary measure, the paper added.
