Senior officials from Oman and the UAE have held talks in an effort to improve travel procedures between the two countries.

The meeting was held between Lt-Gen. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister in the UAE and Lt-Gen. Malik Bin Sulaiman Al Ma’amari, Inspector-General of Police and Customs in Oman, at the Police General Command in Al Qurum, the Oman Tribute reported on Tuesday.

The objective of the session was to ease crossing for travellers, help promote quick entrance and exit across the border, and improve traffic flow across these points, the paper said.

Potential solutions suggested included the use of eye scanning and the establishment of a database, to enable the immediate transfer of information for security purposes.

The establishment of e-links between other crossing points, which lack this facility, was also discussed.
