Storage and networking vendor Buffalo Technology is pitching for a greater share of the Middle East small-to-medium business storage market, with the launch of its TeraStation Duo, dual drive network attached storage (NAS) device.

The NAS hardware is equipped with RAID capability and high-speed data transfer of up to 65MB per second which the vendor claims is ideal for the SMB sector.

“Fault tolerant and reliable data storage is not widely available for the SMB and SOHO market and [Buffalo] are pleased to be one of the first to introduce an improved TeraStation with dual drive that offers just that,” asserted Jasem Al Roomi, director at Buffalo Advantec. “It is the perfect solution for the home office or small-to-medium business that need large, easy-to-deploy, easy-to-manage, redundant network attached storage,” he added.

The vendor points out that if the drive fails it is able to automatically power down, thanks to RAID 1 and Hot Swap technology, which is said to allow the user to safely remove and replace the drive without losing any data or suffer down time.

In addition to that the vendor says the drive includes a Schedule Power Management system with gives the end-user flexible power management options. Buffalo claims that this will save SMB’s more than 60% power usage. The TeraStation Duo also comes with WebAccess, allowing remote access to the device from anywhere via PC, Mac or iPhone.

Further features of the TeraStation Duo include a controlled fan with a thermal sensor and a high cooling capacity chassis, automatic data encryption to AES 128bits, active directory support, Dual Ethernet for port trunking and an in-built DLNA media server.
