The UAE government-owned company was created in March after the Ministerial Council for Services passed a federal bill.

Its main mission is "to underpin the national economy through the transportation of passengers and goods, increasing inter-emirate trade exchange and easing traffic congestion", according to reports in March.

The company will own, lease, sell, buy and operate trains and invest in transportation of passengers and goods and other related activities.

Trevor
