Oman invests $228m in ports and civil aviation

The Omani government signed 22 agreements, worth $228m, for the development of its ports and civil aviation sectors, the Oman News Agency (ONA) reported on Tuesday.

The first of the agreements to be signed by transport and communications minister Dr Khamis bin Mubarak Al Alawi, was for the design, manufacture, supply, installation and inspection of fourteen winches for a dry dock in the Al Wusta region.

The deal was made with the Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Company of China at a total cost of $62.8m.

The second agreement, made with Top Great Engineering & Marine Pte Ltd Company and worth $19.9, related to design, supply and installation of two gates at the same dock.

Other significant contracts signed involved the acquisition of further dry dock equipment, the undertaking of civil works at the Khasab Port and several consultancy agreements for the Muscat International and Salalah airports.
