Storage set free for Abu Dhabi judiciary department

Emirates Computers has completed an archiving and storage solution deployment for the Abu Dhabi Judiciary Department.

The integrator says that the solution will enable ADJD to cost-effectively and efficiently store all archived data and use the centralised backup module to restore any part of the system easily.

The manufacturer that the end-user settled on for the project was EMC, with the solution being built around the vendor’s concept of Information Lifecycle Management. The product involved in the implementation included EMC Clariion, Centera, Rainfinit and EMC’s Celerra NAS Gateway.

Tarek Al Alami, sales director for strategic key accounts at Emirates Computers, says that because the jurisdiction of the ADJD covers the entire emirate of Abu Dhabi, access to data anywhere, and at anytime, had to be a critical feature of the deployment.

“The department was using a single-tier storage system and all the data was being stored on a single fiber channel storage system. With data growing at a very fast rate, ADJD felt the need to have a multi-tiered storage system to store and manage data effectively,” said Al Alami.

“The project to the client is a framework, rather than equipment, to manage and store their data using the latest technologies. The model that the customer is using has been implemented only for few niche customers in the Middle East. This new solution will help the department streamline its data, create back-ups and save costs,” he added.

With this solution, ADJD will benefit from more storage space for structured data, plus data can be moved automatically from a Clariion system to a Centera system, based on the type, age and frequency of use of that information.
