Qatar-based MEEZA has been named the main cloud service provider within Middle East North Africa region by SYS-CON Media, a respected IT publisher.

SYS-CON’s Cloud Computing Journal lists the 150 most active players in the field, with Meeza being the only company from the region to garner a mention.

“When it comes to the whole area of cloud services that (SYS-CON)is one level of validation. Quite frankly, the best level of validation is the amount of interest we have within the current and prospective client base. In my mind, that’s the most important,” commented James Fanella, VP of sales and marketing at Meeza in reaction to the announcement.

MEEZA is credited with launching the first high-availability tier 3 data centre in Qatar that delivers 99.98% availability along with a number of other achievements, including a recent collaboration with the United Nations and Ministry of Environment in Qatar to launch the first paperless conference in the world.

“The plan is to continue to build beyond just three data centres, to building data centres throughout the GCC which is very important for us because it houses managed services. It’s a pretty heavy investment from our side,” Fanella revealed in terms of the company’s focus for the future.

“From a managed services perspective, we currently have 11 and will have over 20 in the next couple of quarters. In addition, you’ll see some pretty interesting services we’ll be providing over the cloud,” he added.
