Man City - Tevez completes move, Adebayor in talks

Manchester City on Tuesday completed the signing of ex-Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez for a fee believed to be £25.5m and on a five-year deal.

The Argentine, 25, left Old Trafford last month after rejecting their offer of turning his loan spell with them into a permanent switch.

Tevez said: "City came with a very good proposal and ambition to become one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"It was an easy decision and I am happy to be here," the BBC reported.

Mobbed by City fans Tevez fired a parting shot at United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, refuting Ferguson’s claims he had tried to text the player about staying on at Old Trafford.

"I was there for two years and Sir Alex never called or sent any text messages in that time," Tevez, responded. He also rejected the claim that a deal had been sealed with City back in January.

"The only time he (Ferguson) talked to me was after a match against Roma to discuss a situation about going to play for Argentina.

Tevez did take time out however to thank United CEO David Gill as well as United’s fan base.

Meanwhile, City manager Mark Hughes confirmed the club are in negotiations to sign Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

"There have been discussions and there is possibly a deal to be done but nothing has been concluded," Hughes said at the unveiling of Tevez.

The 25-year old Togo international is thought to be on sale for about £25 million.

Since joining Arsenal from Monaco for £7 million, Adebayor has scored 62 goals in 142 appearances, although he was more subdued in the last campaign after an injury-plagued season.
