Sun welcomes new partner in Bahrain

Sun Microsystems has welcomed Bahrain-based IT solutions provider Computer World into its partner family in the Kingdom.

The new alliance will see Computer World resell and integrate Sun’s server and open storage offerings, as well as promote virtualization solutions, in Bahrain.

“The alliance between Sun Microsystems and Computer World will bring Sun’s leading IT solutions to our customers in Bahrain. Computer World will focus on building solutions around Sun’s reliable and scalable products, enabling us to expand our outreach in the country” said Bruno Haubertin, partner sales organization manager at Sun Microsystems MENA, in a company statement.

Haubertin added that Sun chose to partner with Computer World because of the company’s strong presence in the Bahrain market as well as its service record.

While Computer World is the latest partner to join Sun’s ranks, it will be one of thousands affected by Oracle’s acquisition of the Santa Clara-based technology company in a $7.4 billion deal announced four months ago. Both firms collectively oversee a partner base that is estimated to span more than 30,000 companies, with many questions on the global channel strategy going forward still left unanswered.
