A new version of FlexFrame for Oracle has been unveiled by Fujitsu. The software allows enterprise customers to deploy dynamic infrastructure using technology from high-end enterprise solutions vendor Oracle.

According to Fujitsu the new version of FlexFrame for Oracle integrates Oracle VM to provide high availability across both physical and virtual servers. It is also intended for companies that need to begin with a small infrastructure and grow it over time, designed as it is, to scale around end-user’s installations and upgrades. The new FlexFrame for Oracle also includes the added features of application awareness and priority management.

This most recent installation of the FlexFrame for Oracle product assigns server resources in an effective manner to Oracle services based around Oracle Database, application servers or any other Oracle application. All of Oracle solutions can reside on centralised storage and can be started at anytime and on any server in the FlexFrame for Oracle pool in a very short time.

Rolf Strotmann, vice president enterprise servers and software at Fujitsu Technology Solutions says: “The introduction of the new FlexFrame for Oracle release is the result of more than 15 years of collaboration between Fujitsu and Oracle. This solution consolidates Oracle environments to provide one infrastructure for all Oracle services. Now by integrating with Oracle VM, we can ensure high availability for both real and virtual servers.”

Fujitsu claims that, compared to the energy costs of their traditional environments, organisations can save up to 70% on energy with the FlexFrame for Oracle. The organisation also makes the further assertion that the total cost of ownership can be reduced by up to 60%, but it must be noted that it does not specifically detail how this is achieved.

Customers that invest in this version of the FlexFrame for Oracle will also have to look out for further enhancements to the solution that are slated for release by the end of the year to provide native support for the newest server and storage technologies.
