Sharjah issues trucks ban in bid to ease congestion

Authorities in Sharjah are to ban trucks from some major roads at certain times in a bid to ease traffic congestion.
The General Department of Public Works and Sharjah police have announced that changes in passage timings of trucks will take effect from Tuesday.
According to the joint statement issued by Sharjah police and the public works department, the trucks passage will be banned on the Ring Road from the Industrial Square fifth to Waset Square station from 5.30am to midnight.
It added that trucks will also be banned on the Sharjah-Al Dhaid Road from the intersection 7 to Al Dhaid town from 5.30am-9.30am.
Trucks are also banned three times a day from Al Badayeh intersection to the Fifth Industrial Square from 5.30am to 9.30am, 1-3pm and from 5.30-9.30pm.
Traffic guides have been fixed to notify the road users about the detours and traffic bans.
