LG has just confirmed that the world’s first touch watch phone will be available in Dubai soon.
The highly-publicised GD910, which was first introduced at CES consumer technology tradeshow in 2008, comes with a full 1.43-inch touchscreen interface, an MP3 player, 3G capabilities and video calling. One of the phone’s more impressive features is its Text to Speech (TTS) feature that reads messages and other information out loud.
The model made its debut in France a few days ago through Orange at a cost of £770 on contract, which roughly converts to about AED 4,700. While that figure might seem steep, it is significantly cheaper than the original £1,000+ price tag that was announced last year.
An LG spokesperson who confirmed that the watch phone will be made available in Dubai added that other details such as pricing and its expected launch date in the country have not yet been confirmed.
“This Watch Phone is the result of a great deal of research and development, something that is very important to us at LG. We will continue to invest in creating innovative new products and technologies like this and setting trends in the mobile phone industry,” Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics stated early last year.
