Royal Jet and ARABASCO team up

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Wednesday, 12 August 2009

Royal Jet and ARABASCO have joined forces to form an operational alliance that will offer regional and global private executive air travel to the Saudi Arabian market.

The service – to be named Arabasco AOC – will see the UAE-based Royal Jet place a Boeing Business Jet and a Gulfstream 300 at ARABASCO’s hubs in Jeddah and Riyadh, along with a crew, an operations team and additional support.

“Saudi Arabia is the single largest and most mature private jet market in the region, and there are significant benefits that are opening up here, especially when one enters the market with an established brand and offering,” said Royal Jet chairman Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.

Royal Jet president and CEO Shane Jeffree O’Hare said he expected the trend for executive travel in and from Saudi to keep growing: “We expect this trend to continue in the coming months, notwithstanding the global slowdown, because of the strong liquidity in the market and the still lucrative growth projections expected this year.”

Increasing its presence in the region was part of Royal Jet’s strategic five-year plan and Sheikh Hamdan said the alliance will help consolidate its position.

Royal Jet confirmed that Arabasco AOC will offer private flights for customers from Saudi Arabia to both regional destinations and global hubs, such as London, Moscow and Bangkok.
