Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air has seen the average number of ticket sales on its website increase by 160 percent from January to July this year.
More passengers are choosing to book their airline tickets online because of the convenience and ease of booking, the firm said.
The airline said they had 140 percent more bookings in July than what they had in January – a trend they say will continue.
“The growing popularity and success of gulfair.com shows that our strategy to attract more customers to book online is paying off,' says Gulf Air Director distribution and e-commerce Lars Denlew.
“There are several factors which have proven to be major drivers for this enormous success. A big draw is 'Our Best Fare Guaranteed' promise, which assures our customers that the fares on gulfair.com cannot be beaten by any other website.
“We have also introduced a wide choice of hotels and car hire across the airline's network, which customers can book and get instant confirmation,” he said.
Gulf Air launched its internet booking site in January 2008.
