Google launched its Palestine domain for Arabic-speaking users in the country earlier this month.
The new domain – Google.ps – will see users enjoy the Google search experience in Arabic and is the first step to providing access to more locally-relevant content and services.
“With the launch of google.ps, we bring the total number of Google domains worldwide to more than 160,” the Google Arabia blog stated.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) offers the search giant pages on ICANN domains once they become available. This year alone Google launched six new domains in the Middle East and Africa region, bringing its total number of domains to 30 in Africa and 12 across the Arab world.
“We see domains as the first step towards a much larger goal of making the web more accessible and relevant for our users, and part of our vision to make all of our products available in the world's top 40 most spoken languages,” the blog post added.
