A new codeshare agreement between Etihad Airways and American Airlines comes into effect this week, the UAE carrier said in a statement on Wednesday.
The deal comes around the same time as the Etihad launches flights to Chicago on September 2.
The codeshare further extends the airlines’ global networks by providing easy connections between Abu Dhabi and American cities, like Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston.
“Customers transferring between the two carriers will be able to purchase a single ticket for their journey and enjoy the convenience of being able to check in their luggage to their ultimate destination,” Etihad said in the statement.
Etihad will carry its ‘EY’ code on a number of transatlantic services operated by American Airlines between Europe and the United States, as well as selected domestic services.
In turn American Airlines will place its ‘AA’ code on services operated by Etihad Airways between Abu Dhabi and New York, Chicago, Paris, Dublin, Frankfurt, Manchester and Milan.
Etihad’s Chicago from route will run three times a week, increasing to six flights per week from November 1. The service is set to become daily from January 1, 2010.

This is great news, of all the other airlines, Etihad has the best web page that anyone could need, explanatory, you can view your flights in any way you want. Flights from destination, Flight from Departure points. Availability of flights, and schedule of flights, you can directly pick any flight and check the availability. Just get your credit card.
I have heard some folks complain about accommodation during travel. Some say they lack luxury and some say their flights are cattle buses. I have no personal experience with their planes but their web page sure gives you a feeling of comfort and relaxation.
So If anyone has feedback it would be highly appreciated.
