A crackdown on illegal immigrants in Dubai uncovered 132 people living in just four houses in Bur Dubai.
In just one day, the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) nabbed the people of various nationalities for violating the entry and residency laws, news agency WAM reported on Tuesday.
Major General Mohammed Al Murri, director of DNRD, said the violators, most of them domestic helpers, were arrested during a series of simultaneous inspection campaigns on four houses in Bur Dubai.
The Investigation and Foreigners' Follow up Section, he added, had conducted the crackdown after it received a tip off about the whereabouts of the illegals.
The swoops, he told WAM, were carried out after the police had obtained an arrest warrant from the immigration prosecution.
"A total of 111 men and 21 women of different nationalities were apprehended from the four houses," he said.
