MBC signs deal to show 32 Indian movies

MBC, one of the leading free-to-air TV channels in the Middle East, has acquired as many as 32 Indian movies for its network of channels, it was reported on Wednesday.
With a large population from the sub continent in the region, Indian films are a hit with both the Asian expatriates as well as Arab nationals and there are also many dedicated satellite channels from India beaming Indian movies.
"Yes we have acquired screening rights of many good quality Indian movies to be shown on our network," said Badih Fattouh, droup director of content for MBC, in comments published by Emirates Business on Wednesday.
However, he did not provide details on the deal.
According to sources at MBC, the response to showing previous Indian films has been very positive with the audience and advertisers, the paper reported.
Sources from Mumbai told the paper that MBC has acquired screening rights of 32 Hindi feature films from UTV, India's leading media and entertainment company.
