Qatar Airways has announced it will expand its operations in Switzerland by adding an extra flight on the Doha-Zurich route starting on October 25.
CEO Akbar Al Baker said the move was part of the airline's growth plans to step up frequencies across an expanding global network.
He told Qatar News Agency that the addition of a Saturday departure out of Zurich would be a popular flight among Swiss holidaymakers heading to leisure destinations such as the Maldives and Seychelles as well as Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Ho-Chi-Minh City in Vietnam.
The Zurich upgrade follows an announcement that the airline’s Doha–Paris service will operate twice daily from October.
Additional flights to Madrid, Athens and Stockholm will see a near 40 percent increase in frequency across the four cities later this year.
"Qatar Airways has enjoyed five years of success in Switzerland. We are pleased to be able to reinforce our commitment to this important European market through adding capacity and offering our passengers more choice and flexibility on the Zurich route," added Al Baker.
Qatar Airways operates a fleet of 69 aircraft to 82 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Far East and North America. The airline has outstanding orders for more than 220 aircraft worth more than $40 billion.
