Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, part of Aldar’s $40 billion (AED147 billion) Yas Island development, is on track to open next year, its operator said on Tuesday.
''It will not open in the first quarter of 2010, but it’s going to be 2010,'' said Nadine Traboulsi, marketing director of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. ''It’s still on schedule and nothing has been delayed,'' the National newspaper reported.
Building work on the external structure of the theme park is now said to be about 90 percent complete.
The 200,000 sq m Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will offer 20 amusement rides as well as two roller coasters, a variety of restaurant and food & beverage locations, VIP services, and an array of Ferrari merchandise.
Interior contractor Depa last month confirmed that its Abu Dhabi subsidiary and joint venture partner won an AED200m ($54.4m) contract to complete the fit out for the park.
Meanwhile, Yas Island, which has been under construction since 2007, will eventually occupy a total land area of 25 sq km with approximately 17 sq km used for development.
It is also due to host the FI Grand Prix on November 1. All building works for infrastructure, which will support the eagerly awaited race, have been completed and are now being tested and commissioned.
Also included within the development is Yas Mall - a 296,000 sq m retail development comprising 500 luxury units, 3 department stores, concept stores and fashion boulevards.
In the heart of the mall, Central Entertainment Zone will boast one of the world’s largest LCD screens.
