The Saudi Health Ministry on Sunday confirmed a further three deaths from swine flu, bringing to 26 the number of fatalities in the Kingdom since the outbreak began.

The deaths of three women came as the total number of cases reported so far hit 3,500.

The Health and Education ministries meanwhile are due to launch awareness campaigns Monday on preventive measures that can be taken against the H1N1 virus - this ahead of the start of the school year.

Elsewhere, Egypt's Ministry of Health on Sunday confirmed a second swine-flu-related fatality - a 25-year-old woman from the Diqhliya governorate.

The total number of H1N1 cases reported to date now stands at 783, 716 of which have been cured. The remaining individuals are described as being in good health and receiving treatment in hospital with the Tamiflu drug.

Meanwhile, Bahrain's government on Sunday decided to earmark BD5.5 million to secure vaccine stocks for swine flu.

This came after a meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa, reviewed measures already taken by the Health Ministry and other relevant authorities to combat the disease.
