Accor eyes 44 hotels in Mideast by 2011

A hospitality group on Monday said it planned to operate 44 hotels across nine Middle East countries by 2011.
Accor Hospitality Middle East confirmed the increase of its regional network was on track at an Iftar event hosted by the Group at Suitehotel Mall of the Emirates.
Christophe Landais, managing director, said: "We intend to further strengthen our position in the region by developing our core brands. Our target is to operate 44 hotels across nine Middle Eastern countries by 2011."
Accor's plans for the UAE include the opening of a new luxury property, Sofitel Jumeirah Beach, at the end of September, the launch of the ibis Rigga in the first quarter of next year, and the entry of its new brand Pullman Hotels & Resorts which will link to the Mall of Emirates by mid 2010.
The company's Iftar event helped to showcase the recently opened Suitehotel Mall of the Emirates which consists of 180 suites, a 24/7 deli boutique and an Italian restaurant.
