A strike by pilots at Jet Airways which forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights has ended.

“The entire issue was resolved amicably,” Shakir Kantawala, the general manager of Jet Airways for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, told the National.

The five-day strike was called off after lengthy discussions. About 100 of the airline’s pilots reported for work in Mumbai Sunday morning, India press reported.

More than 430 of the airline’s pilots – more than half of the carrier’s 760 pilot staff – called in sick after the sacking of two pilots for forming a union.

Thousands of passengers were forced to change their travel plans as hundreds of planes were grounded amid the strike.

The airline, India’s second largest, is expected to return to normal schedules by Monday.
