Mashreq has installed 11 ATMs in nine stations of phase one of the Dubai Metro project and hopes to expand further inside the new rail network, the bank said on Monday.

It said more than 2,000 transactions had been made at the ATMs during the first three days of the metro going live.

Mashreq is the first national bank to have ATMs at the newly launched metro stations and is part of the bank's expansion of its ATM network which has reached a total of 246 across the seven emirates.

The Rashidiya, Deira City Center, Riqqa, Mall of the Emirates, Financial Centre, Jafiliya & Jumeirah Islands stations have been installed with one ATM each while Union Square and Khalid bin Waleed (Burjuman) stations house two ATMs each.

Gavin Sanderson, head of Distribution, Mashreq, said: "We average over one million transactions a month in our ATMs across the UAE and this highlights our convenient locations and reliability.

"We definitely look forward to expanding our ATM network within Dubai Metro. We have succeeded to meet the deadline of the inauguration of the metro and are proud to be the only national bank to have 11 fully operational ATMs by day one of the first phase of this historic project."
