Abu Dhabi F1 hospitality area expanded

Abu Dhabi’s Grand Prix race organisers has been forced to increase the number of tickets available for its corporate hospitality area due to growing demand despite the impact of the global financial crisis, its CEO has said.
Abu Dhabi Motorsport Management (ADMM) has increased capacity in the three-tier Paddock Club from 4,000 to 5,000 Richard Cregan told Arabian Business.
“The year started off in a very difficult way for corporate hospitality because of the economic crisis. I think probably 50 percent of that was reflecting the economic crisis and the other 50 percent was reflecting the fact that those with money didn’t like to be seen spending it.
“As the year has progressed things have moved on a little bit and started to improve a little bit for the economy...Luckily enough we had the extra space and we’ve increased.”
The new stadium on Yas Island has capacity for 50,000 said Cregan, adding that around 90 percent of tickets have now been sold. “Initially they [ticket sales] went very well and then they dropped off as is the trend. Now in the last two weeks they’ve really gone up again,” he said.
Abu Dhabi paid a record $45m to host this year’s final F1 race, according to Bloomberg. The three day event is F1’s first day-to-night race.
ADMM aims to have the 5.55km circuit, designed by renowned F1 track designer Hermann Tilke, booked out up to 300 days a year by next year, Cregan said.
“Our target is to try and get as close to that next year as we can. I know it sounds a tall order but you have companies who want to take the track for one to two weeks and then you start to take those days very quickly,” he said.
Last week ADMM announced the first race outside of the F1 weekend would be a V8 Supercars event in February. The circuit will host the opening race of the next championship of the Australian racing series in February.

Reading through comments like these makes me proud to be directly associated with the track and dissapointed that most of us would prefer to be believe the worst so we have something to complain about.
Apparently Nora is more interested in the colour of the bus she will be catching and has little interest in the event. Give your tickets to someone who understands what F1 is about and who will appreciate the event.
Transport can not be confirmed until security authority allow YMC to do this but its encouraging to hear people are considering using public transport - this has been formulated and submitted months ago.
Will the circuit be ready - yes, as evidenced by the official handover ceremony held last week by Aldar and HH,, including a thrill inspiring double lap in a 2 seater.
The inbounds roads to the circuit are not officially open yet because there are still maintenance workers planting trees, finishing landscaping, painting, putting up signs AND it's not officially open until the first event.
For those of you who are coming for the right reason I hope you love what has been accomplished and are blown away by the event.

I think its very much on track. road access to the Yas Island from the Abu Dhabi - Dubai highway has been completed and so is the track and the main towers are all built. One can notice the circuit on the way to Dubai, right behind the Al Raha developments. I must say, it looks stunning. Eagerly waiting for more news. And yes, I have tickets too! :)

Are they actually on track? There is no updated info on transport on the website, the road to Yas is still not open, and when I called, I was advised that transport had not even been worked out yet!!!
Looks like another event to add to the growing list of Shambolic events in the UAE.
$45m paid to stage it, and they can't even tell us how we can get there with weeks to go!! It really does not bode well.
I am starting to regret buying a ticket.

Has the track been handed over yet or not? It is less than 50 days until the race and the venue hasn't had a single test race, or the systems any stress testing.
Will it all be last minute like in Bahrain?
