The family of Hesham Talaat Mustafa, the Egyptian businessman sentenced to death for ordering the slaying of Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim, has launched a $1bn campaign to change the law he was convicted under, it was reported on Wednesday.

A number of Egyptian businessmen and parliamentarians are currently lobbying to change an article of the Egyptian penal code so that Mustafa would be spared the death penalty, London-based Arabic daily Al Quds Al Arabi wrote.

The business tycoon’s family is bankrolling the campaign, which was said to have a budget of $1bn.

As part of plans to sway public opinion, the family will build 3,000 apartments for low income earners, a source close to the family was quoted as saying.

Money vs the life of Suzan Tamim
Posted by Najit, Cape Town on Monday 28 September 2009 at 15:40 UAE time

There's no doubt that this story will become legendary in the corridors of Egypt's "worse case scenarios". A beautiful, talented, popular and *innocent* young woman was brutally sliced from life.

The family of the murderer is almost on a political campaign, lobbying for the masses (whom will be housed) to deliver a stronger voice for reprieve. Where were the masses when Suzan needed them? What was she guilty of? Falling in love!

When she saw the extreme difficulties this "love" brought with it, she fled. She was stalked, threatened and ultimately murdered.

According to Egyptian law, her brutal and monstrous murderers were sentenced to death. Now .... MONEY seems to lure away a judicial system to save this evil man's life. But what of his hitman? Oh - he's disposable, is he? How crude, crass and despicable.

Ultimately, this message is "if you have lots of money in Egypt, you are above the law, above the clerics, above penalties. You walk. While a life was butchered?

Unbelievable. While none of us gloats over the impending end of these murderers, the fact is Talaat was cunningly aware of his deeds that now end THREE lives. His ultimate plotting of such a crime saw that he was tried FAIRLY. Something Suzan Tamim was denied.

May our hearts never be sold for .... MONEY!

As and when we come across such highlights, it shakes our conscience and we start behaving like nobles. Let’s look deeper within ourselves before we post our arguments, and thoughts to others. None of us are angels, we know that for sure. Irrespective of how hard we try. As it is said that bad poetry is an outcome of genuine feelings.
Killing of Suzan was a heinous crime, a shear depiction of brutality and carnivore mind, and surely the one conspired and committed the crime should undergo the equal mayhem of losing life.
What the family of Talat is trying to do is not to be questioned as he remains the loved child of the family despite being corrupt or criminal. We might have done the same if our loved one may have gotten into something similar.
It’s not the family that needs to be pelted with anguish or disgust, as it may be the best time to prove that court of law is beyond and above all ordinaries and extra-ordinaries.

What i posted is just a thought. Do not believe the media and their claims, they play around with your emotions and show you what they want. Do you think conspiracies do not exist? The media knows what the mass of the people are like, habits, morals and values... For the rich, it's a different ballgame, it's business, economic and unhealthy competition. People do not get to be that rich and stupid all at the same time. Pride and morals have no place in that world.
Just list the facts in front of you and you will see.
Think about it.

$2m to sentence a person to death or $1bn to save his own life.

What If
Being rich does not stop people making "stupid" decisions especially when their ego or pride is hurt!
