CNN, the major US news network, is set to launch a bureau in Abu Dhabi in November, it has been reported.
Hala Gorani, CNN newsreader, told the Peninsula that the new facilities will be located in the new Abu Dhabi Media Zone. CNNArabic.com website will continue its operations in Dubai.
Meanwhile, the network announced six-hours of new programming, part of a raft of new international evening primetime programmes, will launch on Monday. The shows will be broadcast daily from New York, London, Atlanta, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong.
“We cover the news that is of interest to everybody all over the world… and the ‘International Desk’ connects the viewers to the best and latest information available… We also have programmes that look at an issue in depth, like the ‘Amanpour’ programme,” Gorani told the paper.
