Qatargas said on Saturday its new Ras Laffan refinery, the first condensate refinery in the country, has started production.
"The refinery's production reached commercial quantities and specifications on 23 September for all products," Qatargas said in a statement.
In May, the company said the 140,000 barrels-per-day plant was in the commissioning phase and would start operations this year.
Qatargas has said it planned to double the refinery's capacity by 2014.
Qatargas is one of two majority state-owned companies in Qatar that produce liquefied natural gas, which is natural gas chilled to liquid form for transport. (Reuters)
