Three more swine flu deaths have been confirmed by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health this week, raising the kingdom's H1N1 death toll to 29.
Two men and one woman, all Saudi nationals, died after contracting the H1N1 virus, the Saudi Gazette reported.
Despite fears of an outbreak among the millions of pilgrims during Ramadan only 26 cases were reported in Makkah and Madina, and no deaths, officials told the paper.
Another two cases were reported in the northern and southern border regions, where pilgrims pass on their way to the holy cities to perform the minor umrah pilgrimage.
“The ministry of health continues to follow closely the disease among pilgrims and visitors from all areas through epidemiological surveillance and laboratory diagnosis of suspected cases,” it said in a statement.
