Saudi Arabian Airlines will receive nine new Airbus 320 planes before the end of this year, director general Khaled Al-Molhem has announced.
The delivery is part of a total of 70 aircraft it had ordered for delivery by French and American manufacturers as part of the company’s move to modernise its fleet, he added.
In comments published by Arab News on Monday, Al-Molhem said Saudia had signed deals to purchase 70 new aircraft including 35 A320s, 15 A321s, eight A330s and 12 Boeing 787s in a bid to strengthen Saudia’s competitiveness.
He said the first batch of aircraft would soon join the airline’s fleet after the completion of registration and issuance of licence by the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
He indicated that A320s would operate to the European cities of Milan and Athens as well as Saudi cities.
