Thermo has won the contract package AX272F for MEP works on the extension to Dubai International Airport.
Under a contract valued at around US $21.5 million (AED78.8 million), the firm will complete full MEP works on Phase II of the Terminal 2 expansion at the airport.
The work was scheduled to begin during December 2006 and take a period of 12 months to complete. Group Five Construction is main contractor on the project. Thermo has previously carried out further packages of work on the airport expansion.
The firm has also been awarded a $49 million contract for MEP works on the staging facility and fuel farm at the Dubai World Central International Airport under a 50 month contract.
The airport contract wins were part of a series for the MEP contractor during the final month of 2006. Among these were two contracts at Dubai’s Motor City development. The $77 million contract for Area 1 of the project involves 30 months of work, covering the full MEP scope. MEP consultant on this project is WSP, with Al Naboodah Laing O’Rourke the main contractor.
Thermo will also carry out full MEP works on Area 2 at Motor City under a separate contract valued at $107 million. Al Futtaim Carillion is the main contractor on this scheme.
Further wins include a $12.5 million scheme for a commercial tower at Dubai’s Business Bay and a $24 million contract to install electrical and plumbing systems in a public housing project in Al Ain.
