Etisalat on Monday unveiled its first self-branded mobile phone at the GITEX technology show in Dubai.
The Etisalat 211 FM can be bought bundled for AED265 and comes with a Wasel SIM card along with AED165 of free airtime credit for international calls, over a period of three months, the company said in a statement.
Etisalat said the launch was the first of more self-branded devices coming on to the market in the future but did not give any further details.
The new mobile phone also supports MMS, WAP and FM radio features, comes with a headset and one year warranty from Etisalat, the company added.
Commenting on the launch, Khalifa al Shamsi, senior vice president, Consumer Marketing at Etisalat, said: "The launch of an affordable mobile device is a strategic move for Etisalat into the mobile devices segment.
"The new Etisalat 211 FM device will realise our dream of expanding our customer's reach, and offering them a truly affordable holistic connectivity option, whereby they not only get a fantastic device, but also can get dual benefits of free Wasel SIM card connection and free airtime credit bonus."

Agree 100%. I too had a problem and they will not accept unless I have the box.
Qs.
1. Since you are giving me a new Iphone use that box
2. I do not have big house and I can not keep boxes for every damn thing.
Why companies are making our lives so difficult.

I recently bought an Iphone from Etisalat, a great device I must say, however it went faulty and after taking it back, I got approval from the Iphone department for a replacement as it cannot be repaired, but ongoing back to the outlet I was told that without the box, they would not accept it being returned. Q. Why do you need the box? So we can send the box back to Apple in the USA with the phone? Never in my life have I heard anything so senseless, the phone doesnt work, so what are you or apple going to with it? At not point when I bought the phone did you show me anything in writing or inform me that if the phone goes faulty that it can only be replaced with if I keep the box. You just dont want to give me a new phone do you!

R&D is what all OEM companies do before they release a product.
A great deal of it, in fact.
This is what Etisalat, I am sure didnt do. They probably ARE from a warehouse somewhere where they were purchased by Etisalack acid tagged and delivered in bulk from Korea, India or China.
Oh and yes, Nokias are built like bricks.....this is my point. Nokias (and formerly Motorolas) were built to drop off a building or run over and still work. They are tanks. So, why would the only people that seem to be targeted trade in something reliable for something that will break and then be stuck on your table at home as an ornament because it will never get repaired (at least not for free).

Rajesh, I should say that these ancient nokia phones (example: the nokia 3310) are a million times better than the phones we have today (I use the Nokia E71 and the N95 8gb and both failed miserably when comparing their reception strength to the ancient Nokia 3310, 8310 and 6610)
