Emirates Airlines announced on Thursday it will launch a service three times a week between Dubai and Luanda, in Angola, on October 25.
The Dubai-based carrier will fly to the Angolan capital on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the airline said in a statement.
It is Emirates’ second new African service to be launched this year, and the airline’s 18th destination to the continent in total.
"Africa is such an exciting continent for us and such an important part of the world in terms of world trade,” Nigel Page, Emirates' senior vice president, commercial operations, Americas & Africa, said.
Angola's Transport Minister, Augusto da Silva Tomás, welcomed the announcement saying: “A flight connection between two steady developing countries enhances the potential for growth of both nations.”
An Airbus A330-200 will fly the route, which departs Dubai at 10am, landing at Luanda at 3.10pm, then returning to the emirate at 8pm, landing at 4.50am the following day.
