Etisalat announced on Saturday it will launch the new iPhone 3GS mobile phone in the UAE on October 27.
The announcement follows a similar one made by rival telecom firm du on October 16, when it said it would be making Apple’s most powerful iPhone to the local market.
The new iPhone 3GS has added features such as a compass and a 32GB memory.
According to the Etisalat website, the price to buy the iPhone handset from the Dubai-based telecom firm with 32GB of memory will cost AED2,799, 16GB of memory AED2,399 and 8GB AED1,999.
The firm said both post and pre-paid tariff plans are available, with details available in store or online.
Etisalat stated that there are now more than 200,000 BlackBerry users and that it has more than 30,000 iPhone subscribers.

Prior to subscription, check if you have proper 3G coverage in both your work and residential area, and ETISALAT credit (out of monthly rental) is intended for local calls and SMS, read their offer carefully, and properly observe "fine lines".

Etisalat's upfront charge looks dhs 100 cheaper, but du gives dhs 300-500 as call credits over 12 months, so yea, du still is cheaper. When it comes to data plans, again du is cheaper starting Dhs 150 for 1GB. Oh and dont forget 1 year internet free.

Although Etisalat's price for the device is lower, Du's overall package for the iphone 3GS is much better.

Note that the 8GB model is iPhone 3G, not 3GS
