The UAE's IT services sector is forecast to grow annually by 12 percent to 2013, new research published on Sunday said.
Global market intelligence firm IDC's growth forecast for the country's IT industry from 2008 to 2013 projects spending to increase annually by 12.4 percent with IT services' expenditure set to surpass $1.828bn in 2013.
IDC's IT Services 2009-2013 Forecast and 2008 Analysis for the UAE also revealed that the UAE's IT services market was worth $1.02bn last year, representing a 29.1 percent year-on-year increase.
Exceptional growth in outsourced services, particularly in managed network and desktop services, contributed significantly to the sector's solid performance, the report said.
The IDC report identified combined government, finance and telecommunication as the top three sectors according to IT services spending in 2008, accounting for an aggregate 56 percent.
IDC said it expected the IT services sector to continue growing at a steady rate in 2009 and pick up in 2010 as economic conditions improve.
