SECOND INCIDENT: A cargo plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Sharjah International Airport on Sunday, just three days after a crash that killed six crew members.

An investigation has been launched after a Russian cargo plane declared an emergency landing at Sharjah International Airport on Sunday night, after a fire in one of its engines.

The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed on Monday that the aircraft had been grounded, pending a probe into reported technical problems.

The Boeing 747 flight from Kandahar landed in Sharjah at about 7.30pm on Sunday after a technical fault in one of the engines stopped the function in all four engines.

The pilot switched off the engine and then declared an emergency landing, the GCAA said.

The incident did not result in any injuries among the crew members or major damage to the aircraft except for the engine that caught fire.

The drama came just days after a cargo plane crashed near Sharjah Airport, killing all six crew members onboard.

A preliminary report into the tragedy has cleared the airport's facilities and procedures of any blame, the GCAA said on Sunday.

Com'on, Mutaz, cool down.
While your statement regarding Indonesian airline being banned in the EU is corrrect, wait until the Abu Dhabe F1 race - even Ferraris, McLaren Mercedes, and all others, all brand new cars, may not make the full race distance due to an contained or uncontained engine failure!
And an airport is the last who can avoid such a desaster - an airport is just offereing its infrastructure, and the airport manager is not responsible for the unexpected failure of an aircraft engine!
A tragic accident is on the way

Beleive me, Sharjah Airport Authority will not take serious actions until a tragic accident occur!! What are you waiting for?? All you need to do is very simple: follow Abu Dhabi and Dubai safety procedures and ban such airlines from landing in UAE. I recall Indonesians airline companies have been banned in EU due to repeated minor accident. Now they are operating a big fleet with highly skilled manpower and they are back to EU. Do something please.
