Passenger numbers up by 26% in Kuwait in Sept

Passenger, commercial and cargo flights at Kuwait International Airport witnessed unprecedented increases in September due to the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, latest figures reveal.
Cairo, Beirut, Dubai, Sharm el-Sheikh and Amman accounted for a rate of increase in passenger traffic by 26 percent, movement of commercial aircraft by 41 percent, with air cargo traffic up by 16 percent compared to the same month last year.
The total number of passengers using the airport during September stood at 636,003 compared to 506,000 passengers in the same month in 2008, KUNA News Agency reported.
The number of arriving passengers stood at 271,963, with departing passengers totalling 304,977, an increase of 30 percent.
The overall number of planes to and from Kuwait International Airport throughout September showed a 20 percent increase with 7,851 flights recorded.
Last month, Egypt Air increased two flights to Cairo while Global Aviation -added weekly flights to Muscat and Kandahar, as well extra flights to Gaza.
