Vodafone Qatar on Tuesday announced that more than 250,000 customers had signed up for services since the company launched in July.
The company, which is going head-to-head with established telco Qtel, said that 100,000 customers signed up in the last month alone.
Grahame Maher, chief executive officer, Vodafone Qatar, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the progress we have made in building our customer base which has significantly exceeded our forecasts."
He also praised telecom regulator ictQATAR for "paving the way for competition" with the new regulatory framework in Qatar.
And he also thanked rival Qtel for giving Vodafone permission and access to sites to build its extensive network coverage.
Seventy percent of new customers has joined Vodafone via the company's website, he added.
Last month, the company said it had achieved 99 percent population coverage with its new network, and was confident of capturing 40-60 percent market share within 10 years.
The telco added that it hoped to have its permanent towers up and in place by next year.
