Saudi Arabia's king has accepted the resignation of a member of the royal family as municipal affairs minister, giving the portfolio to the outgoing official's son.

The royal decree run by the official Saudi Press Agency did not give a reason for the resignation of Prince Mutib Bin Abdul Aziz.

His son Prince Mansour replaced him, it said. Royal family members dominate some key portfolios, such as foreign affair, defence and interior, in the cabinet chaired by King Abdullah. Technocrats head other important ministries such as oil and finance at the top oil exporter. (Reuters)
