An additional 9,518 vehicles on Dubai’s roads were fined for speeding in the first five days of November after the speed limit “cushion” was lowered by 10 km/h.
The Dubai police targeted some of Dubai’s main thoroughfares, including Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Ain Road, in the crackdown, Brigadier Mohammed Saif Al Zafin told UAE daily Emarat Alyoum.
The speed limit cushion at which radars flash speeding vehicles was reduced by 10km/hr from 20km/hr on November 1.
The new rule only applies to trucks, buses and taxis but the Dubai Police expects the move to result in a 10 percent drop in serious accidents.
As of November, if the speed limit on a road is 100km/hr, the fixed and mobile radars register vehicles travelling at 111km/hr instead of at 120km/hr.

drive on the right hand side of the road, in the right hand lane, and on the right hand side of the lane.
All other lanes are for overtaking regardless of what speed you are doing.
speed doesn't kill people - idiots on the road kill people
its cheaper, easier and a great source of revenue for governments to target speeding instead of actually targeting and removing the real danger - people who cant drive.

WONDERFUL - all of us see a drastic change on the Dubai Roads, our great RULER & Dubai Police Chief have made all of us to be good and decent drivers with etiquettes and make the road a safe one for all of us. We have benefited by these laws of heavy fines.

Sorry, I am not new here and certainly not new to driving as well!
Trust you have read Sunu's comment carefully; he / she is already on the slow lane, i.e. there are already 01/02/03 lanes to the left for anybody to overtake!!!
BTW if you are a responsible driver please don't take the 20 kmph buffer for granted; remember vehicle you are driving does not have a brain, but you do!!! Cheers

Thanks for your comment Wildwine. I guess you're new here...
Please note that I was not placing any blame on Sunu, quite simply I was pointing out that if you're NOT overtaking something you should keep to the right. There are plenty of 3 and 4 lane (both ways) roads in Abu Dhabi with a posted speed limit of 60. While the limit is 60, being new you probably don't realise that you're allowed to do 80, 5 k's more than the example given in this case. So, if Sunu is travelling at 75 there will be other people wishing to pass him. In any case, and I will state this again, regardless of what speed you're doing you should keep to the right.
