MEPRA set to open regional chapters

The Middle East PR Association has signalled its intention to start establishing chapters across the region, after a PR firm in Jordan became the first agency from the country to join the industry body.
TactiX Strategic Consulting, based in Amman, has joined MEPRA as an associate member.
Managing partner Nasif Khoury said: "This new venture gives TactiX the opportunity and edge in better serving our clients and partners as to expand regionally."
Sadri Barrage, chairman of the Dubai Media City registered MEPRA, said the organisation was looking at establishing MEPRA chapters in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt to begin with.
"We're receiving growing interest from PR agencies in many parts of the region, and while we're happy to welcome new members from anywhere in the Middle East, we also want to increase the practical benefits of membership on a regional basis," he said.
"To this end we're examining the prospects of setting up chapters in several countries, as this may be the most effective way to extend MEPRA's influence and deliver valuable member benefits.
"At the same time we're in the process of recruiting a full-time executive secretary to reinforce the efforts of our executive committee."
The trade group also announced that Regester Larkin had joined as an associate member and media monitoring agency Media Watch Middle East has joined as an affiliate member.
In December MEPRA announced the launch of the region's first dedicated PR training college to raise standards of those already working in the industry as well as attracting new local talent to the profession.
The body has teamed up with the International Communications Organisation to launch the initiative.
