Head & Shoulders’ education initiative

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Monday, 01 January 2007

Head & Shoulders held an event in Dubai recently to raise awareness of the importance of zinc in its re-formulated shampoo. The company called upon international and local health, scalp and beauty experts to speak at a seminar for hair care professionals, at the Shangri-La hotel, Dubai.

Dr. Steven Shiel, principle scientist at Procter & Gamble, spoke to hair professionals about the cosmetic capabilities of zinc. "Having spent my entire career working in hair care research, I have been continuously looking into new ways to keep hair and scalp at their most healthy and shiny," he said. "Among these is the new formulation of the Head & Shoulders range of shampoos - ActiZinc."

ActiZinc, which is found in all six Head & Shoulders' variants, contains a modified form of zinc that helps combat dandruff, scalp itchiness and general discomfort linked to dandruff.

Lynn Khatib, a therapeutic dietician added: "Zinc is an essential beauty nutrient that helps improve the condition of the skin, makes dull hair shiny and turns brittle nails strong. Ingesting zinc through diet may work wonders for overall body health, but hair is only living when it's beneath the scalp."
