Riyadh Metro due in March

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Saturday, 03 February 2007

The main construction package for the Riyadh Metro rail network in Saudi Arabia will go out to tender by the end of March.

Designed by Lebanese consultant Dar Al Handasah, the new metro system will consist of two lines over 25km on a north-south route.

Speaking to Construction Week, Ahmed Arees, project manager, Saudi Bin Ladin Group said: "We are waiting for the tenders to be sent out as we will be bidding for this job. We know that there will be two lines that will run inside the city. Makkah and Madina will also get their own line, but that is in the prequalification stage at the moment."
