Government take-up of SOA on rise, study finds

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Thursday, 01 February 2007

eSolutions BEA cited international research from the Economist Intelligence Unit, commissioned by BEA, which shows that 54% of public sector organisations are already using a shared services model, with a further 16% planning to introduce such a model in the next three years.

"The report decisively indicates that public sector customers increasingly appreciate that SOA [service-oriented architecture] offers the infrastructure flexibility needed to build on legacy environments and adapt swiftly to change," said Diyaa Zebian, Middle East and Egypt general manager for eSolutions BEA.

Regional customers for BEA SOA solutions include Dubai eGovernment.

"By implementing the SOA software, Dubai eGovernment has assumed greater access to business services while improving all online services in the areas of reliability, dependability, confidentiality and security," said Salem Al Shair, eServices director at Dubai eGovernment.

"We are constantly striving to help Dubai's transformation to a digital economy and we believe that a comprehensive focus on technology has played a central role in integrating our government departments," Shair added.
