Jumeirah Beach Club closes for refit

The Jumeirah Beach Club Resort & Spa closed its doors last month to undertake a complete redevelopment.
Closure was necessary in order to "create a comprehensive new resort product that will contribute to the future growth of tourism in Dubai", according to Jumeirah.
The group took over the property in 2000, and the facelift had been on the cards for some time.
"We of course understand that our members and guests are disappointed by the news that the resort will close," said Simon Venison, general manager of the Jumeirah Beach Club Resort & Spa. "However the closure is necessary for us to develop the full potential of this unique location."
All staff have been offered alternative positions at other properties in the Jumeirah group for the duration of the closure and the resort is expected to re-open in the last quarter of this year as a 141- suite boutique resort.
The all-suite property will feature a purpose built island spa, six restaurants and bars as well as an infinity pool, with Polynesian-style suites, water bungalows and beachfront suites.
