Dubai Media City (DMC) welcomed 121 companies to its community last year, increasing the number of businesses in the free zone to 1,213.
In 2007, the TECOM Investments-owned business park will focus on improving services to its current client base, as well as pushing for further growth.
Dr. Amina Al Rustamani, Executive Director of Media, TECOM Investments, said in a speech to celebrate the sixth anniversary of DMC, that expansion plans include 27 towers to be built by private investors within the free zone perimeter.
"The new space will promote the growth of DMC and other sister divisions, such as Dubai Studio City, operating under TECOM Investments' umbrella. The development will comprise a wide variety of commercial, residential and hotel options," she said.
Last December, Dubai Media City announced the launch of the third phase of the Media Business Centre, its facility for independent media professionals that currently houses over 350 media professionals, including small companies and freelancers.
The expansion is expected to be operational by the end of March and will accommodate a further 125 small companies and freelancers.
