Arab Media’s editors have worked on Avid systems for the last nine years.

As part of its efforts to provide quality editing facilities to clients, Jordanian production and post facility, Arab Media TV Production recently upgraded its existing Avid hardware and software. The company has installed three Avid Media Composer Meridians, versions 11 and 12, three Avid Media Composers with Adrenaline and one DS HD.

"There is a market need for these systems and we want to keep our facility up to date," says Albert Hadadd, Arab Media's general manager. "They will help to expand our business and give the best possible results for our clients."

Arab Media, which recently worked on several high-profile projects including Hikyat Simsim, the Jordanian version of educational children's series Sesame Street as well as promotions and trailers for international movies and programmes, says it chose Avid because its editors are familiar with them and also because they are the industry standard. "We were the first ones to use an Avid in Jordan, and we have used them in the past for audio and video editing as well as for creating trailers. They serve our needs properly and are a friendly and fast tool compatible with our broadcast units," explains Hadadd.

As a company that also distributes TV programmes, runs a Jordan movie channel and produces subtitles, a solution that could cater to these various requirements was necessary, and Avid fit the bill. Additionally, the new systems also integrate well with each other. "We can now connect the Adrenaline to the server which we couldn't do before and the colour correction is particularly good. The benefits are that it now works on MXF format, standard broadcast format, shares files with all systems and works in HD - the format of the future. We can now upgrade the computer whenever we need to for better hardware and the codecs are easily upgradable as it is now working on a software level. In the future, we will look to upgrade the DS HD to version 8," adds Hadadd.
