Food foray

Masafi, the region’s market leader in the mineral water industry has made its first foray into the food sector by launching ‘the longest basmati rice in the world’. India Gate Basmati Rice – that has a 12% and 20% share of the Saudi and Kuwaiti basmati market – is produced by rice exporters and millers KRBL and will be distributed in the UAE by the Masafi group.
Speaking at the launch, Ashraf Abushady, CEO of Masafi said: “Our foray into the food sector is an important step and is integral to our broad vision of becoming a complete fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) company by 2011.”
